Although it may appear to be an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) the project comprises the design of a new detached garage building (not a dwelling unit or laneway home) to complement work occuring at the adjacent primary Hillside Residence which overlooks views to the Rocky Mountains, the Lee Creek valley and town of Cardston in southern Alberta, Canada.
The modest building program accommodates a studio work shop, shower washroom and an additional seasonal garage bay to undertake projects and store the 'Westy' and other work tools. The pavilion building opens on two sides and creates an opportunity for flexible use of space in relation to the main residence as a book end to the new east patio area at a complementary human scale.
