In partnership with local Prior snowboard dealer Dan Webster (Blakiston Sports), One One Ten jointly designed top and bottom sheet graphics for a tribute splitboard in memoriam to late Lethbridge City Councillor and massive backcountry enthusiast Wade Galloway who was tragically swept by avalanche on the slopes of Mount Rowe on February 15, 2014 in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada.
The tribute board design unveiling officially happened during a special event screening of Teton Gravity's feature film 'Higher' which features world reknown extreme snowboarder Jeremy Jones. Hosted by Blakiston Sports Inc. and Subaru, the opening event took place at the Movie Mill in Lethbridge on October 9, 2014. Wade's sheet graphics were conceived as a collage of several of Wade's favorite things - gummi bears, pepsi, Waterton Park and his favorite colour lime green. The base sheet caption 'treepilot' was a well earned knickname of Wade's on the slopes and the eagle a respectful metaphor of his spirit.
Although the board was designed with a splitboard in mind, the custom graphics were available to family and close supporters for use with any of Prior's current snow or splitboard models. Purchase orders for the Wade Galloway Tribute Splitboard were extremely successful until production runs at Prior finally concluded.
Memorial donations for Wade Galloway may continue to be made to the Canadian Avalanche Centre or directly to a memorial fund set up by Mr. Blaine Hyggen for the Galloway Tragedy Trust Fund at any Royal Bank of Canada branch.
